    Great for the price…………but

Great TV overall. I got it during a PRIME DAY sale. I have had other INSIGNIA TV’s. Great alternative to SONY.Be sure to find out if your streaming service is compatible. I didn’t realize this was an issue. Had to buy a ROKU to use my streaming (SPECTRUM) fully.

TV works great … Remote quit

No problem with TV, but the remote went out and that was that. Within 2 months of purchase the remote just quit. I changed the batteries, nope. Bought a replacement, it works fine. So buy a replacement remote when you purchase the TV. Fire TV has a different feel than Roku, but La getting used to it.

    Good Picture for the Price

This TV is really good for those who have a smaller space. This one fits perfectly in an old entertainment center that was meant for an older tube TV. It is responsive to inputs from the remote and streaming services work well without any issue. My only complaints are that the interface is a bit convoluted making it hard to find what I’m looking for sometimes and there is noticeable input latency on video game consoles.

    Awesome TV for 1080p 24″….BUT

I ordered this TV back in April 2023. Everything was great and loved it. I liked it so much that I decided to order the same model again (FHD 1080p) just this last April 2024. I recieved a different version for my second order. They sent an HD 720p version instead. I do not want the HD version. I ordered the FHD version.April 29, 2024 update:Tried to return it to one of the seller’s location. They would not accept it (because the item did not match on my order reciept)…I’m like if I recieved the right model version….I wouldn’t be here. I decided to just keep it. It is not worth the hassle. Lesson learned…buy TVs in person in the future. There are certain models that look exactly the same but have different version. This 24″ Insignia TV is the perfect example that will confuse everyone. All they see is 24″ box on the shelves then send it to buyers.

Very good price here on Amazon

So many TVs to choose from… Chose this one because of its’ price and performance features: 1080P, Alexa, and Fire (which allowed me to replace an older Fire stick). One note to share – make sure you are using the included Insignia remote during setup and not accidently using the old Fire stick remote. Took me a goodly amount of time troubleshooting setup failure before I finally noticed I was using the old Fire remote (embarrassing but true). Once I used the Insignia remote, setup was easy tho updating the software took awhile. Very satisfied with the picture and Fire functionality.

    Easy to install on wall

Our old wall mounted tv in the bedroom gave up the ghost. I found this 42″ tv would fit perfectly so I ordered it. On the ordering webpage I noticed below the image in ‘people also ordered’ a wall bracket that was much smaller than the one we currently have on the wall, so I added it to the order thinking the screw holes in the back of the tv must have gotten closer together as the weight of the tv got less. When I received the bracket and the tv I matched the mounting holes on the old bracket to the holes on the back of the new tv and found a second set of holes in it already drilled that fit! The mounting bracket screw holes are 4″ top to bottom and 8″ side to side. It took about five minutes to attach the bracket with four screws and lift this very light tv to the wall. Fifteen minutes later I had everything setup and the tv was working! Amazingly easy. The quality and sound are top notch. I recommend this if you need a replacement tv.If you are planning to mount your new tv on the wall and are unclear how to do it here is a short tutorial.1. A wall mount assembly comes in two parts. A wall arm and a bracket.2. The wall arm is attached to the wall.3. The bracket is attached to the back of the tv.4. Before you begin make sure the tv you purchased comes with four mounting holes on the back.5. Also make sure that connectors on the back of the tv are not located under where the bracket will go. (If you are using Wi-Fi it probably won’t matter anyway).6. On the wall find a stud and mount the wall arm to it.7. Align the bracket to the back of your tv to the four screw holes and attach with screws.8. The bracket has a metal triangle sticking out that slides into a triangular notch on the wall arm.9. Lift the tv (two people if possible to steady while you match triangle with the triangular hole).10. When the two are matched up, push back to insert triangle and lower carefully.11. Make sure it is solid before letting go. That’s all there is to it.

    A great value!

Pros- good picture and volume, Alexa voice remote makes it simple to find a movie or show, including prime channels, where you can find channels playing certain shows all day long, very lightweight TV, easy to mount, and good connectivity.Cons- very slow to process commands, no number pad on remote. A consideration for a bedroom TV where the partner may be sleeping, you must speak into remote to change channels. The light weight seems cheap. But so far it’s worked flawlessly.

It was the best compromise for me…

I’ve got a 32 inch Sony Bravia that I bought back when flatscreen TV’s first appeared on the market. Literally, you had to go to a specialized home furnishings or entertainment store. If you went to a big-box store, you’d only see CRT TVs for sale.Well, my old Bravia’s power cord has continuity issues after decades of mechanical strain. Not a big deal, I could repair it easily, but I decided it was finally time for an update and cruised Amazon’s Spring Prime Day event here in 2023.That ties into my review title: For the variety of equipment I use, this TV was the best compromise I could find. I really hesitated buying this TV. I’m not familiar with Insignia, and I’m certain this TV isn’t going to last a quarter as long as my venerable Bravia has. Before I dive into the particulars, here’s a summary for readers who just want the points:This TV has been good so far, having been used nearly daily for about six months. I have a couple of gripes, most of which can be adjusted, and some which are my fault due to the dated equipment I persist in using. I mostly play video games, but occasionally watch something on Prime TV. For both those functions, this TV works great, and it’s processing speed is noticeably faster compared to my old Bravia, which is nice for gaming (I doubt this TV could stand toe-to-toe against the latest, cutting edge TVs in that regard though).Onto the details.Out of the box, I was REALLY grateful that this TV is feather-light compared to my Bravia. Had my lower back been acting up, I would have needed to enlist some help moving the Bravia. But sore back or no, I can easily handle this Insignia. The included stand legs are cheap and flimsy. They can hold the TV up, but this TV sat way too low in my entertainment center; I had to hunch way forward just to see the screen. I immediately had to get a height-adjustable stand. With the adjustable stand, I’ve got the TV at a good viewing height and angle.Plugging in my devices, it was clear I was going to need splitters. One of the main reasons I got this TV is because it has an optical audio port, which is what I needed to run my old Yamaha audio receiver. I have an extensive collection of Nintendo and Sony video game consoles, and while I don’t intend to try and connect all of them, the three HDMI ports and single series of A/V ports are wholly insufficient. That situation is still being worked. But for the time being, I have my PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Wii U connected to the HDMI ports of this TV, and can connect one of my older consoles to the A/V ports. This TV handles it all in stride, and of course makes older game consoles video output look odd since it’s too crisp and fast for the console. But, that’s where yet more adapters will be needed, and why this situation is ongoing.Again, this TV runs itself and the connected equipment I’ve listed just fine. Picture quality is improved over my old Bravia, and audio is just as good. Since this is a smart TV, it has some extra functions, which I like, dislike, and nearly hate. With this TV not being locked to exclusive hardware like Roku does, I was able to program this TV’s remote to power on my old Yamaha receiver along with this TV. I like this! On occasion, I’ll join some friends online in voice chat, and thus don’t need my receiver to power on. I can just hold the remote very close to the TV, so the remote’s signal doesn’t hit the receiver, and I only power the TV on.This TV will send power-on commands to devices via the HDMI ports. I like, dislike, and hate this.Sometimes, when I come home from work, I just want to fire up the PS5 and game. Since the PS5 is connected to HDMI 1 (ARC port), firing up the TV also fires up the PS5 and receiver. One button gets me ready for gaming and I love it.Sometimes, I want to play games on my Switch or just watch some TV. If I don’t frantically mash the remote’s Home button after pressing the power button, the TV will stubbornly fire up my PS5 and keep reverting the input to HDMI 1. This annoys me, as sometimes I don’t mash the Home button enough or in time, and I have to wait for the PS5 to finish booting up, wake it’s controller up, and put the PS5 back to sleep mode and quickly change this TV’s input mode to either HDMI 2 (the Switch) or Home, which is the Prime TV main menu.Seriously, the TV is stubborn. There’ve been times where I’ve had to turn off my PS5 multiple times because this TV keeps sending power-on signals and forcing the input picture to HDMI 1. I hate that. But, the TV is just doing what it’s programmed to do. I either need to take the time and set my PS5 to not react to power on signals through HDMI, or just deal with it. I’ve messed with settings on the TV as much as I could, so all that’s left is to mess with settings on the PS5. But again, when I come home from work, burnt out and needing to just chill and relax, pressing one button to send me into a relaxing gaming session of No Man’s Sky is just wonderful. Again, like, dislike AND hate.Overall though, I’m satisfied with this TV. It’s not perfect obviously, but for what I need it to do, it does it well enough and still has connectivity for older equipment that I have that simply isn’t found on the new, cutting edge TVs that most people go for. The fact that this was on sale during Prime Day makes me even more willing to overlook it’s shortcomings.I don’t know if this TV is even available any more at the time of writing this, but if it’s available when you read this review, I’d recommend this TV if like myself, you don’t NEED a smart TV but don’t mind having one, and have older and newer equipment you’d like to connect to one TV.

    Great for its price!

I’m really impressed by how affordable this TV was! Not only that, it works very well for its price, both picture quality and sound are amazing! My only two main issues is that sometimes the TV does lag a tiny bit when I’m trying to switch apps, and the light that’s supposed to show when the TV is off seems to turn off sometimes, which might be intentional to save power but I don’t really know. I just feel like that light adds a nice touch to a TV.The TV stand works very well and I’m glad overall to have this TV complement my apartment living room! This TV is overall great for those looking for a budget friendly TV! Just don’t keep your expectations through the roof obviously, in the end you get what you pay for.

One of the few full HD TVs made in this small size (24″)……..and worth every penny!

UPDATE 2/2024: We loved this TV so much, using it in our kitchen, that we purchased a 2nd one for travel. It’s compact and easily fits in a small spare suitcase with some towels to protect it. For general viewing, the screen is smaller than the 28″ 720HD we had, but, due to being sharper at 1080, we barely have noticed the smaller size and have no issues seeing the sharper image on this. Small text is one area where this TV over a lower 720 resolution will be noticeably easier to read.—————————————————————————————————-We have owned other Insignia TVs including a 43″ 4K Tv we use in a patio room that’s served us well for over 5 years. We wanted to replace our 720 27 inch kitchen with something smaller to save space and still be able to see it clearly. This little 24 inch 1080 tv has a very clear, sharp and high quality 1080 picture. It’s smaller screen size still blew away the more pixelated and larger screen size of the Samsung 27 inch 720 TV it replaced.Text and faces and general detail is much more clear and defined and we have not really noticed any negative factors of going to a screen about 3″ less diagonally in size. All of the Fire apps works that we installed including, Netflix, MAX, Paramount+, Disney+, and STARZ. Also, we notice the CPU/processor in this TV is fast! Menu selection and app, input and settings selections are fast to access and move though what you are doing in the menus.Don’t expect built-in speakers for any flatscreen TV to sound that good. This tv has downward firing speakers and a thicker base to it, allowing a slightly larger speaker. You can hear what you need to, but, for us, we’ve been using the -Polk Magnify Mini 2- sound system for our kitchen tv and this new TV works perfectly with it to give us full sound in a very compact system in our kitchen.Check out the Polk models, there are two, one with surround and one without, with both having a nice subwoofer that is included. We have the non-surround model and it works perfectly in our kitchen. These two Polk models are sold on Amazon too! If you want to hear very clear dialog, I strongly suggest checking out these Polks! For under $140, you get a small full def tv here that has a full, in-depth menu to tweak settings to your hearts content. When I purchased this TV at our local Best Buy, I wasn’t aware it has a menu that’s as complete as a much larger, higher end TV, but, yes, it has it all for the setup menu.5 stars all around. If you need a compact, space savings TV, but, want one with a full HD (1080) capability, this is the one to seriously consider. There a VERY few full 1080 definition TVs in this size and although it’s only a 24 inch screen, the difference between 720 and 1080 will be obvious no matter what any sales person will tell you. (Seeing is believing). If you want full quality sound for movies and other audio needing crisp dailog and full bass with a dedicated subwoofer, please do check out the Polk Mini 2 models at Amazon, you will not be disappointed!

Purchased This Spur Of The Moment As Our Sony Bravia 1080i HD TV Stopped Working!

Update February 19th, 2024Well we have been dealing with an issue with the television volume going up and down randomly. We still haven’t purchased a new Surround Sound System as my husband has stage IV melanoma on his scalp and all we have done for the past two years is see different Oncologist and his health comes first. The sound issue with this television started about Christmas of 2023. We initially thought it was our Roku as it’s been going on for several years now after the pandemic and we were bing watching everything. But it seems that it is definitely an issue with the television itself. We replaced the Roku unit with a new unit and it still has the volume issues. I have replaced the HDMI cable on the Roku and the cable box which I don’t know why we even still have it installed. We could be saving about $250 if we just kept our internet service and dropped the rest of the content we never watch. It still is a great buy for the price and original I thought the color was not as good as it should be, but it seems like it has gotten better with time. If we buy a new surround sound system, we could still use the volume on the receiver and cut the television volume off. Even with the few issues that we have had with this television, it has more than enough to get by with the little issues we have had. If it completely stopped working tomorrow, it would have been well worth the price to get through some pretty tough times. If you are looking at this , buy it while it is on sale. It is a good deal for the spare bedroom, the garage, or even a large computer monitor.Update December 10th, 2023Our television seems to working fine still, however the surround sound receiver decided it was time to bite the bullet. It’s an Onkyo 5.2 model that we have had for over 10yrs . We purchased the top of the line model at the time and they gave us a really nice deeply discounted price for the second unit. It is the exact same unit as the Insignia units but branded for Best Buy. The flagship unit had to be repaired twice before we decided that it was not worth the price to ship it to the factory service center and we started using the smaller unit as the replacement surround sound system. This was back when we were still using our Sony Bravia and the much less expensive unit out lasted the much more expensive unit by about 3Xs the life of the 7.2 model. We had the unit in a cabinet style unit that the television sits on top of. After the first time we had issues with the expensive Flagship unit, I was reading that a closed cabinet was a terrible idea. I thought , well that makes a lot of sense, and cut the back panel off of the cabinet where the A/V equipment was stored. I also purchase a thermostatically controlled fan unit that was pulling off the hot air and installed two computer fans in the shelf so that it was getting fresh air in and hot air out. Basically so that the receiver was not just recirculating the hot air that the thermostatically controlled fan unit that was sitting on top of the receiver was expelling out the back panel that I had completely removed. We finally got frustrated with the high end unit and started using the cheaper “little brother” model of the same Onkyo series. We have two height speakers that we lost as the smaller unit didn’t have the ability for them. We basically have been using the speaker system that is built into the television. It took a while to get use to the difference in the sound and we reminded ourselves that we plan to purchase a new Surround sound system and a 4K television in the next few months, basically after we find out how much “Uncle Sam” is going to hurt us in April. We received some inheritance money and we have moved some investments around as the market is very precarious and we made some changes to our investments. The only thing we have noticed is that the sound of the television speakers built into the television sometimes seem to get louder or lower on thier own. We never noticed this until our surround sound system completely stopped working. I’m honestly surprised that it lasted as long as it did as Onkyo was notorious for having problems with their HDMI boards. Still a great television, even if it stopped working tomorrow, it has been a life saver for us as we watch a lot of television. The fact that we purchased a television that has a great picture for what it cost to fill up our SUV when it gets really low on gas is a huge comparison. It will be used in a guest room once we decide on what we’re going to do as far as buying a new entertainment system. The sound issue might have something to do with the fact that the Roku device has been on continuously since we purchased it, and we have been using it over the built in apps as it seemed like way too much work to move the streaming services from the Roku to the TVs built in version of streaming. It might be a setting that we overlooked when we started using the speakers on the television, or several other possible solutions for this issue. Still worth the 5 stars and worst case scenario is it will be my monitor for our computer. I’ve been told that Integra receivers are basically Onkyo receivers that are branded for sale by BestBuy. It’s actually really sad that Onkyo has been around since since 1946 and they have apparently had to file bankruptcy because of the problems with their newer receivers. Japan is notoriously know for making the absolute best audio equipment in the world. Unfortunately, they are not alone in this problem with their flagship products. My brother in law has a Yamaha Advangate 11.2 pre amp and main 11 channel amp that has had to be serviced for issues with the chipset on the HDMI boards. The pandemic is still making it hard for these popular brands with getting the best quality chips for their products. I have a two channel Onkyo receiver from the late 80’s that sounds incredible. It was a determining factor in the purchase of the new products. I also think Sony has some issues that they have never had in the past. We have a small television my husband purchased in Hong Kong in the late 60’s and it still works to this day. It’s just a lot of television and a little over 7 to 10 inches of television. But it was built to last and Japan is very proud of making products that will outlast the technology. So we are still “tire kicking” on what Surround sound processor we plan to purchase. It will have to handle bi-amped speakers, dual subwoofers, and the biggest and hardest thing to find is the ability to playback MQA CDs. I’m currently doing this with my MacBook Pro and a special program that unfolds the true depth of MQA. Teac makes a CD player that can playback this format natively , but it’s a Japanese version that I think is 220volts. So I don’t want to run a separate 220 line for that type of device. We will know exactly what we want when we start looking for the components and hopefully we can find exactly what we want. Otherwise , I can live with the volume fluctuations of the television speaker output and ad I mentioned, this is the most unbelievable High Resolution television we have ever purchased for the price of dinner for four friends, a tank of gas, or several other things we have purchased that we paid far more money for and we we’re let down after a couple of weeks. I just haven’t had time to really look at the Television settings to see if the sound is set up correctly. I was running a $300.00 optical cable from the television to the receiver made by Audioquest, and it worked perfectly. I’m going to try purchasing a couple of new HDMI cables and double check the receiver. Unfortunately, I don’t have any extra ones on hand. But it’s worth trying to get back the 5.1 audio experience.Update November 5th, 2023Well our Insignia/Fire TV is working better than ever. I took me a little bit of time to get the color set properly and I flat out refused to pay for someone to come out and calibrate the color as it was more than what the TV cost. It’s like it took some “burn in” time for the colors to really pop! They kind of looked either too light or too dark, but with the time we have had it, the picture seems much better looking and more vibrant than it originally looked out of the box. I don’t know if a TV is like speakers, but it seems like the picture looks more natural than it originally did when we first purchased the TV. I also read some reviews on the 4K models where the built in streaming service was causing issues with the apps cutting out and requiring a restart of the app. I personally am not a huge fan of built in streaming software and we have an external Roku device which is the newest model hooked up to ours and it works great. Plus you can upgrade your streaming device and not have to purchase a new television if it doesn’t get a firmware update. We have had a much better year after buying this television than before and I know it has nothing to do with the television, but we have updated our surround sound system and speakers. My husband’s melanoma is in the remission stage , but I try not to worry about that as it will be what it will be. If this television was to stop working today, I would still feel like we definitely got our money’s worth out of this purchase. I’m still considering buying one of the 4K models for my MacBook Pro as an external monitor instead of the screen on the MacBook Pro. Then I can put it in the folded up mode and add a cradle to hold the MacBook Pro and clear up some much needed desk space. We’re very satisfied with this television and people that come over can’t believe how little we paid for it. I honestly thought that unless we paid more than about $2,000 for a television, it would not be satisfactory, and boy was I wrong about that notion. I don’t see us upgrading anytime soon as we have gotten so use to the picture and the color of this model, I just think it’s our new TV for as long as it last.Original Review:We purchased a Sony Bravia from Best Buy in like 2003 when these Television started becoming popular and it was really expensive. I think it was over the $3,000 price range and it lasted for longer than it’s life expectancy. Several internet reviews of the model of Sony Bravia we purchased rated the life expectancy somewhere around the 10yr to 15yr range. Well, we have watched ours for several years longer and it was a very good television. Personally, I think Sony use to make really good products for the mainstream market, but now I’m not exactly impressed with their products anymore. Our Sony Bravia stayed on more than off and it started to act up in late July just when we were considering buying a new 4K Television and new Surround Sound Equipment and High Resolution 7.2.1 audio equipment for our den. It was almost like our old faithful Sony was listening to our plans and threw a monkey wrench into them. We also had purchased our dream SUV in the color and options we had spent the first part of the year looking everywhere for and it got rear ended. Then when we thought things couldn’t get any worse, we found out that my husband has Melanoma. Everything we didn’t necessarily need was put on the back burner. The Sony Bravia was state of the art for the time and it was a 40in screen, but the first HD televisions are not exactly the same as the newer models. It measured more like a 50 inch screen as the bezel was slightly larger and the speakers that are built in the television also took up more space as they where in the bottom of the television, which we never used them anyway. It’s is also several inches thicker and it’s actually a lot heavier than I remembered it being. It was also in a built in entertainment center and that was one of the obstacles we faced when considering a new 4K system as we couldn’t figure out how to get a larger screen size without tearing out the built in system and having the wall dry walled in and paint matched. Then there was the issue of where we we’re going to store the thousands of DVDs and Blu-Ray movies that we had amassed over the years that you can now basically stream. We have several movies on both formats and it’s always hard to find a movie when you have them packed in a closeted style area. The Sony Bravia still works for several hours and then the picture cuts out. I initially thought it might be the Roku or the Onkyo receiver that the company had several issues with their HDMI boards on several model years of their top of the line receivers. We sent a very expensive model in for repair work and it lasted about another year and I found a guy in Dallas who fixed it in like two hours, the second time it stopped playing sound and it finally stopped working. I was through with getting it repaired and unhappy with Onkyo forever. It was a networked $1,500 receiver that had a slew of problems that eventually led to them going out of business, as I’ve heard. We also got a deep discount on a brand new Onkyo 5.1 receiver at the time for like an extra $200. It’s still working, until I post this review, then it will die. That’s the kind of year it’s been for us and I hope it gets much better. The Sony Bravia has got something to do with heat and not getting enough circulation to it. But the parts are obsolete now and it wasn’t worth the trouble of finding the part, then paying too much for it, and then having other problems with the Television in a few days or so. I have listed it on a local website for free and we have the original box and paperwork for it, but no bites on it yet. Best Buy will take monitors and televisions up to 40 inches and I might call them and see if they’ll take this one. It’s larger than 40 inches but it’s a 40 inch screen. My husband immediately started looking at Amazon and I said that I didn’t think having a television shipped to our house was a good idea. The various delivery options I thought might be used to ship the item have been much harder on large items now than ever before. Sometimes the USPS driver has to deliver our four cases of Fuji water and he gets extremely frustrated with doing so. I have offered him a hand truck to help him, but he just kind of moans and says he’s got it. Then my husband read that we could pick this up at Best Buy. I looked at it and checked the compatibility with our receiver and said “buy it.” My thinking was if it last for three months, we haven’t spent several thousand dollars on a 4K television yet. I measured the opening and it fit with about half an inch on each side, but there plenty of room around the television for air to circulate and it is nowhere near as thick or heavy as our Sony. There’s also plenty of space behind it and it is much easier to get to the hookups than the older Sony Bravia was. We purchased the 42”model and it has been a great television. It took me a few hours setting up the surround sound to run through our receiver and then setting the picture was not exactly easy to do, but I think it’s just that we had gotten so use to the Sony picture, which was really good, that we couldn’t get it exactly like what we had gotten use to watching for over 20yrs. So the hook up was easy to do, but it took some time for me to realize that it isn’t going to look identical to what I had gotten use to watching. We had the Sony Bravia professional calibrated. I was not going to pay more for calibrating the television than it was purchased for. I thought the brightness was too bright , so I would adjust it and then it would look darker in some different channels and on Prime Video. I hit the reset button and it actually worked perfectly. It is not a matte finish like the Sony was, so the picture looks different, but extremely good. I honestly don’t know if a television has a “burn in time” like some audio equipment, but it seems like it looks better now after several weeks of using it basically more on than off. The picture quality is incredible and the lighting has kind of changed to match what I think it should look like the longer we have used the television. It has built in streaming capabilities through Amazon Fire, but I like our Dolby Digital DTS Roku player and it is what we use instead of the built in streaming media player. I’m just picky about how surround sound quality sounds and the Roku was already set up for streaming our Prime Video and some other apps. So it saved us from having to activate everything over again and it was just plug and play for the Roku player. Otherwise, the Amazon Fire being built into the television is just another example of how much you get for the price of the Television.I’m considering getting one of these for my Apple MacBook Pro for a monitor. I’m not a gamer and I don’t have to have a 4K display for what I use our MacBook Pro for anyway. The price of this is just unbelievable and there is not much else in this price range that you can buy and not have a lot of problems with. My newest iPhone case was almost as much as this television. The picture is incredible and the fact that you can pick it up at , in our case Best Buy, made the whole process easier than having this shipped through UPS or USPS. I would have never thought that you would ever be able to buy a 42 inch HD television for the price we paid which was under $150.00 when we bought this item. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the product and how well it displays our favorite shows and movies. I’m still amazed at the fact that it was so well made, yet very cheap in price. It was perfect actually because our pre 2020 Onkyo receiver is the same refresh rate as the television. We might get that amazing 4K television but now it’s just not priority anymore because we have been extremely happy with the Insignia Television with Amazon Fire for just under two months now that we have not thought about spending the money on new Receivers, speakers , or other devices that we don’t have to have in order to enjoy a great television experience.Highly recommended for so many reasons. I have considered buying a couple more for the guest room and our bedroom, but we don’t watch television in bed. We had a very large television in there for years and I can’t remember even watching it.I’m still amazed by how little we paid for how much incredible quality we got for the price of what some hotels cost per night. When our vehicle was rear ended, the rental car was costing the guys insurance more a day than this television cost. I’m just amazed at this well built television can be so cheap and look so expensive in 2023!I started to post a photograph of the picture, but I don’t think it would be an accurate representation of the quality of the image as different devices produce different results for television photos. We had some paint samples sent to us from the painter and they looked entirely different in person than the images we received. So I’m glad we didn’t go on the images as the color was completely different in person.

    Great tv for the price.

Tv works great, has good picture and sound. Great tv for the price, the only drawback is it’s an Amazon product so when you turn it on you get commercials. It’s obviously not a perfect picture quality tv, but we use it for our guest room and it’s perfect for when the niece and nephew come over. If you are looking for an affordable tv for every day use this is it.

Great value in a 24 inch tv

Inital impression:Just purchased this tv for a location in our kitchen in which a 24 inch tv was not only the best option but the only option for where we wanted to put it. found it easy to unpack and install the support feet. There have been a lot of comments about the tv being wobbly once it is stood up on it’s support feet. Did not expeerience that at all. For those who exprienced the wobbliness, perhaps the support feet were not screwed in all the way or oriented correctly. All I can say is the tv stands perfectly stable on the surface it rests on with no wobble at all.I knew I wanted and would be going with an internet driven tv so I was not concerned about it not having a cable coax input. However this set does have a coax/antenna connector which I have not used. It also has an ehternet connection if you want to direct connect it to your router. The TV has all the features of a larger set, with 3 HDMI ports if needed plus a USB port. The built in Alexa voice control woked fine for me.This Insignia 24 inch tv comes in 2 flavors, a 720p and a 1080p version. Being that they were both on sale and that the 1080p version was only $15 higher than the 720p I opted for the 1080p version even though I had my doubts as to whether the difference between 720 and 1080 could be seen in a 24 inch tv, particularly sitting 6 or more feet away. Even still I didn’t figure putting out $15 more for the higher resolution 1080p was any big deal considering that the sale price of the higher resolution tv was only $5 more that the regular price of the 720p unit. After plugging it in, powering it up and connecting to my network, it did take about a half hour for it to download updates and go through the initial setup. I can see where that would be typical for most smart tvs.I found the sound to be surprisingly excellent and the pciture as well, although I did have to set some picture preferences for myself..My main concern is how well this set will work in the long term. I would be happy with 5 years of use out of it.I plan on updating this review as time goes on,.

Great TV at a great price, but the “Media Player” is pretty near useless

I really love this TV. The picture and sound are both great for a rock-bottom-priced smart TV.On the down side, most smart TVs come with a built-in media player where you can plug in a hard drive into the USB port to play downloaded movies and videos, but this TV does not.The media player flattens the file structure on the hard drive so you end up with every video file sorted in one massive list either name (or even worse, by date), so all your S01E01 episodes be listed first followed by all of the 2nd episodes, etc., making it impossible to find anything. It looks like they set up the built-in media player primarily to play .jpg photos from a USB thumb drive. However there is a workaround for the problem.Go to the App Store on the TV and download the “VLC for Fire” media player.Once installed, open the VLC player and wait until it builds a file structure directory from the hard drive (this will take some time). To play a video file using the VLC player, don’t select “Videos” (this will list everything in a flattened file structure). Instead, select “Browsing”, then find and select your hard drive, then select “Display in List”.You will then see everything on the hard drive in a nice, organized folder-based file structure. One of the pluses with the VLC player is that there is a built-in graphic equalizer that will work with headphones. For some unknown reason, the built-in bass and treble adjustments are blocked on the TV when you plug in headphones.

Great picture on a 24″ TV

I bought this to replace the older tv in my work shop and it has worked out well. The built in fire tv cleared up some of the clutter and the picture is beautiful. The new style feet didn’t fit well where I wanted to put it but I bought a stand that fit the holes in the back and that solved the problem. My only real complaint is that I’m not crazy about the downward firing speakers but there are many available settings and the voice enhancement has helped tremendously.

    Quite the bargain!

This is the perfect Fire TV for a small space. I have it on the wall in my kitchen. The setup was super easy (all my Amazon Fire TV stick settings were there), and it’s very quick. I haven’t noticed any buffering or lag on the wifi. The picture is good and there are a number of settings to let you customize it. The only thing I would change is the thickness – it’s a little bit clunky compared to a flat screen. Overall, it’s a great deal!

    Don’t Hesitate. Buy It!

I LOVE THIS T.V.! I have been looking for a 24 inch t.v. for my bathroom that would fit on a shelf over my jacuzzi bathtub for over a year. I did not want to purchase one with a 720p resolution, but that are the only ones I could find in this size. This one has a 1080p resolution and the picture is beautiful. They do have one that is $10 cheaper with the 720p resolution, but I would highly recommend that you buy this one instead. It has all of the different types of ports that you could possibly need. You can even hook up an older VCR. It is so light to pick up making it easy to move it from room to room or even outside. The sound is great and I have had no problems with this. The huge bonus is that it has Amazon Fire already installed, so you don’t have to purchase this or a Chrome cast or a Roku device, and the remote has VOICE CONTROL! It is so easy to just say, “Watch UTube Funny Cat Videos”, and instantly you are there. You can also hook a Roku device to this and use that if you prefer. The setup is a breeze and I have had no problems with this t.v. maintaining an internet connection with our router. It is shipped directly from Best Buy and comes perfectly packaged. It is a 2022 model, but don’t let that give you any pause. All of my other t.v.s are more than ten years old and work great. They are all LCDs, so I the only thing I have had to get used to is the LED screen, which basically means that when you are watching it at an angle that the picture is not as defined. It is so light that you can easily move it to the perfect position. This over-exceeded my expectations in every way. I have now ordered the 32 inch size for my dining room and kitchen, as it is still on sale. The 42 inch size is now back to it’s regular price or I would have purchased this one too. It is still an excellent price even if it is not on sale. Because I am an Amazon Prime member, once I entered my sign-in information on this t.v., I immediately had access to the streaming app. The biggest surprise was when I found out I could access the internet as well. I was able to go to my mother’s church website and pull up her church service for her to watch. Unbelievable and just amazing. I cannot say one negative thing about this purchase and it is probably the best one I have ever made on Amazon! Buy it while you can. You will not regret it.

    Amazing TV for the money…WOW!

My games took big leap in definition when I switched to XBox 1 X/S… it was like playing a game with and without your glasses on.This TV took it even further. Amazing definition for the money, and really easy to set up. I would suggest this to anyone even over other TVs that are a lot more expensive. I added a speaker system to it, and that made it really great, but it’s not necessary to enjoy this TV.

    Good tv

Bought during Amazon prime days and got a great deal. I have been using fire tv sticks for years but this is my first built in fire tv. I don’t think I will go back to using the separate device. I love the voice function that can pretty much do anything on the tv. Especially the sleep timer

Too smart for us dumb people. Q

Very disappointed. I’m an Alexa fan since my voice can turn on a light. My wife is a fan of fire sticks. Our bedroom 24” is a dumb TV. So every time we switch off our Netflix movie and over to local news on cable we must find the TV remote to switch inputs.Just a pain to find three remotes. So when this cheap smart TV popped up … we bought two … why not? We have two bedrooms. Next day regret … we discovered they are 720p … and for $20 more we MUST have a clearer picture. As we are trying to cancel the order… sure enough … the TVs arrive. Amazon tracking says they are still on the truck. Meanwhile I’ve ordered the 1080p model and I’m halfway thru my allowed txt and haven’t gotten to my complaint:I’m in Alexa Hell. I still need two remotes plus Alexa to switch inputs, change cable channels and set the sleep timer.I’m sure it’s just me.Oh … and I can’t see the TV from bed. I’m just far enough to the side that the clarity fades. You must sit straight on to enjoy the 1080pSo, not sending one back. I’ll keep it in the guest bedroom. Guaranteed to keep them from staying more than three days.

    Super easy to set up

This TV (32-inch) is awesome! I had a hard time with some of the physical aspects of setting it up. I’m 74 and live alone, and putting the legs on was challenging because I couldn’t see well enough to put the screws in their tiny little holes fast enough. Having finally done that, I struggled opening the remote to put the batteries in (arthritis). So, all in all, these two things took me nearly an hour to do. There was a lot of cursing going on! Once I got this out of the way, the technical setup was a walk in the park. I added all the apps I needed in record time, not including the whole dreary stuff about having to log in. My only previous experience with a smart TV was a Vizio purchased probably in the mid 2000s. Not actually very smart at all, so I’ve always just used it with a Roku device. I honestly had planned to do the same with this TV, and the Roku is there on one of the HDMI ports, but I find that I’m not needing it much at all. Also, it used to be so cumbersome to push the input button on the remote to switch inputs, but this is now all on the screen, so much easier! I also purchased a digital antenna, which I had tried before about 20 years ago, but didn’t work at all. Well, this TV sees my new antenna and likes it! One of my streaming services (Sling) works with an AirTV dongle thingy that says it can add recording ability to the antenna channels, so I’ll be trying that soon as well. In the meantime, the TV itself integrates the antenna channels into the live guide, though I did customize the guide so that it only shows the antenna channels. I don’t need to see what’s going on live on Pluto and all the other “live” apps. This is my first experience with an Amazon Fire product. I’ve been using Roku devices for years, practically since they first came out. The switch to the Fire world has been smooth and seamless. I still do have two other TVs, the previously mentioned Vizio in my 2nd bedroom/office and a Spectre (also purchased from Amazon) in my bedroom. Both of these with Roku devices. Again, this Insignia TV is awesome and it’s a winner!

    No internet, no TV

I have been experiencing numerous issues with this TV. Firstly, it has a strange tendency to turn on randomly throughout the day and night. It is extremely bothersome and disruptive. I’m trying to catch some shut-eye after a long day, only to be awakened by the glaring light of the TV. I constantly have to turn off the TV multiple times during the day and night. But that’s not the only problem I have encountered. The TV often fails to turn on; I see only a red light blinking. It requires me to unplug it completely and wait several minutes for it to boot up again. I missed so many of my favorite TV shows. I have never experienced such difficulties with any other TV before. To add to my frustration, the TV frequently freezes, making it impossible for me to change channels or access any features. I can’t turn i off. I have to unplug the TV and restart it, which is a time-consuming process. This happens multiple times a week, and it is incredibly annoying.Another annoyance is how long it takes to simply switch inputs. If there would be at least a dedicated input button on the remote control. I don’t mind that I have to press the home button, then navigate to Inputs. However, what frustrates me is that I have to wait 20 to 40 seconds for the different inputs to appear (HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3, Composite, and Media Player). And when I select an input, the screen gets dark, and I have to wait another 5 to 10 seconds before I can see content. The remote control has been a major headache, too. It often becomes unresponsive, and I have to reconnect from once a week to multiple times in a week. This means that I have to get up from my spot on the couch every time the remote decides to stop working, unplug the TV and wait for the TV to fully load the home screen. Then I press the home button for 10 seconds and I got my remote paired again. This defeats the purpose of having a remote in the first place. This is not something I have experienced with any other TV remote before. The WiFi doesn’t work right either. It randomly disconnects even though the signal is strong. Luckily, I got an old Ethernet cable long enough to hook up my TV directly to the router. I prefer WiFi to avoid unsightly wires, but it is what it is.My previous TV allowed me to hide channels I don’t like from appearing on the channel list. So, I did a scan for over-the-air stations and the selected Manage Channels. Yet, I only see a blank TV screen except for the Manage Channels in the upper left corner. I watched a recent YouTube video on how to scan for channels and manage them. I saw on the video a list with the scanned channels, their corresponding signal strength and a way to hide or show channels (exactly what I want but can’t).I learned there is a way to favorite channels through the TV Guide. I select a channel to favorite, click on the three lines button, then selected the option to add to favorites, but it does nothing.Speaking of over-the-air stations, I’m baffled by the fact that my TV seems to require an internet connection even to access channels from the antenna. Initially, I set up the TV to synchronize time information using the antenna signal, but this functionality doesn’t seem to work independently. During a recent internet outage from noon until evening, the system time on the TV was off because I had it unplugged to prevent it from randomly turning on. When I attempted to watch TV, all channels in the TV guide were blank. Even when I selected a channel, all I could see was the TV station logo. Strangely, once the internet connection was restored, I regained access to TV channels without any issues, and the system time was correct again. It’s frustrating to encounter this dependency on internet connectivity for basic TV functionality. The TV should have retrieved time information from the antenna signal as I have set up in the settings. Nevertheless, I should be able to watch TV even when the time and date are off.The channel scan isn’t better. I adjusted the antenna to improve reception of my local ABC station. Surprisingly, subsequent scans yielded varying results. The first scan before adjusting the antenna reported 62 channels. Yet after repositioning the antenna, the second scan found only 39 channels. However, upon checking the Manage Channels section, I noticed only 18 channels listed. Subsequent scans continued to provide conflicting information. For instance, the third scan reported 58 channels, yet I could only access 41. Similarly, the fourth scan claimed to find 60 channels, but this time luckily I got access to 62 channels, two more than reported by the channel scan. So, I cant even rely on a basic function such as a channel scan. It’s a hit-or-miss kind of thing like many other settings and (dis)functions of this TV. And as I’m afraid I end up again with fewer channels than reported, I decided not scan for new channels. At least, the display seems free of dead pixels and the colors are bright if set to dynamic and has a HD resolution of 1920×1080. I can customize backlight, contrast, brightness, color, and tint or choose from a set of preset picture modes by clicking the settings (gears icon) button on the remote and selecting picture.Likewise, I can change sound settings and the volume of the speaker is loud enough to hear clearly even from 10 feet away. There is an option to make dialogue clearer as I do watch a lot of news.Bluetooth seems to work as I haven’t experienced any issues with it. My wireless headphones stay connected.Overall, I am extremely disappointed with it. Constant glitches and malfunctions have made my viewing experience a nightmare. I hope that the manufacturer addresses these issues and improves the functionality of this buggy TV.

Good little TV for the price

My wife wanted a DAKboard (user-configurable information dashboard on the wall) for rotating photo display, calendar info, and some weather information. Her wish is my command and I chose to implement the concept using a DAKboard CPU Mini and this Insignia smart TV. I chose the 32″ because anything larger would have been out of place on the wall in our new apartment and anything smaller would have made the information too small see/read with our aging eyes. The DAKboard CPU interfaces with the TV via an HDMI input. Normally, the on-off schedule set in the DAKboard CPU should turn the TV on and off. The Fire TV had different ideas. With CEC enabled in the TV, the CPU would turn the TV off on schedule… but the TV would come back on by itself about 1-1/2 hours later (not 0700 the next morning as scheduled in the CPU). After much back-and-forth with DAKboard support, the solution was to add the TV to our Amazon/Alexa ecosystem and have an Alexa routine turn the TV on and off to coincide with the schedule in the DAKboard CPU. After we got that worked out, it has functioned perfectly. Now, for the TV part: This is not a high-end or expensive TV. It is not an OLED display with the stunning color rendition and dynamic range of our OLED laptops. It also does not have the widest viewing angle on the planet. All that said, it does a good job of what we bought it for and the photos are larger – and better looking – than they would be on an expensive (but smaller) digital photo frame costing more than this TV did.Not many folks are likely to want a TV for this purpose but these are the reasons I’m giving it four stars.

Love this TV. You will too.

Bought this tv for my sons room. Setting this thing up was a breeze and the tv looks good. I absolutely love the Alexa enable options for speaking directions such as “open netflix” or “set a 30 minute timer”. Wasn’t sure about this brand at first but, now I would definitely buy it again.

Great value for price but not perfect

Overall, I really like this TV. The price was great, reception is very good with a high gain antenna and you get a multitude of channels over the air and via Prime, Pluto, Netflix, etc. However, this Tv often loses sound or picture connectivity – every couple of weeks, sound or picture won’t broadcast. So i have to reboot the TV by unplugging it. This is a major inconvenience to have to keep doing this. Also, the remote is a pitifully small rinky dink piece of plastic that won’t stay closed to secure the battery. So i had to immediately tape it up to hold it together. It’s so tiny that i had to put neon tape around it so as not to lose it. You get what you pay for i guess. . Overall, it’s a big improvement over a standard/regular over the air HDTV.

Bluetooth, ethernet, audio, but no Spectrum app

I was looking for bigger screen than the 32″ inch Samsung TV in my bedroom to read the bottom on CNBC easier in the early morning. This 42″ screen is big enough visually but to wide for the desk with the existing TV. However, it is a very light TV so I mounted on the wall with a mount that did not require it to be nailed to a stud. 1080p is more than enough to watch most programs since most are not 4K yet. Besides CNBC will not be more visually appealing in 4K. It usually uses very old photos of it hosts and guests so that they look a lot different when they are talking live. Sometimes poor quality Zoom could be a “positive”. I prefer using the ethernet to network versus wi-fi and Bluetooth when listening to Amazon for music or other channels for music, but the TV speaker are better than I expect for a low cost TV. It is easy to download apps. Since the Sprectrum app is not available for this TV and most TVs, I downloaded the CNBC app and other apps that I normally watch through the Spectrum app on my Roku and Samsung TV. I have watched OTA channels so I do not need the Spectrum app of that. This TV tuner is as good as most of my TV and DVR tuners. Since I am not allowed to have an outdoor antenna, my flat antenna can get most OTA channels with this TV. I get over 130 channels with this TV as well as most TVs since Southern California has a lot of OTA channels. For about $180, it has all the features I was looking for except for the Spectrum app and I can always use my Roku Ultra if I need that app to watch a program. I live in an HOA where a large segment do not subscribe to cable since they want to watch foreign language programs that is more plentiful on OTA than on cable. Too bad they do not want to be an HOA director to allow outdoor antennas since it may get a few more of those channels since the towers are in multiple directions in Southern California. I miss my outdoor antenna reception that I had in my house and could pick up more than the 130 channels that I get with a flat indoor antenna. The other cnegative is the remote since it does not have numbers so switching channels when watching OTA is not quick. I have another TV remote that is compatible with Insignia but the number keys do not work on the Insignia even though the other keys work with it. I was not willing to paying about double the price for a Samsung with a similar size screen just to have the Spectrum app on the TV. Also, the newer Samsung remotes also do not have number keys but fortunately old remotes with numbers work on some of the newer Samsung TVs. Not every person who buys a new TV will only stream. Some will also watch linear TV and want to key in numbers. Strange that Samsung TV plus channels have 4 digit channels but the remote has no numbers for direct access and the TV does not made to recognize voice commands. This TV was delivered about 4 days earlier than expected when I was notified when it was first shipped. Luckily Best Buy did not use its own trucks/vans to deliver since I did not renotify security to let them though since security told me Best Buy did not have the same blanket pre-approval that Amazon delivery has. Whatever service did the last mile had that pre-approval or Best Buy would probably had to come back a second time to delivery it. This TV is light enough for a senior citizen to mount on a wall without assistance.

    Good for the price

Easy to program if you have a Amazon account. Sound is good for a thin tv. Picture is mediocre for a 1080 tv. Fed ex driver set the tv up on my deck railing 6 ft off the ground. He could of walked up the steps and placed it flat on the porch.

Not happy (upadated) Maybe not so unhappy

Update: I contacted Insignia/BestBuy. I got a response within 24 hours. The TV is beyond the 30-day return window. I was reminded of the one-year warranty and given the customer care number. It might be something simple. One of the reasons why I went with Insignia is because I have one that has been working since around 2008. One of the early flat-screen TVs. It even has a DVD player built in.Original review: Why does it keep turning off? Sitting here watching the news or anything and it just quits. Watching a movie and it just shuts down. Then when I turn it back on it does not go back to what I was watching. What is up with that. What is up with that? I never set a sleep time after anything. Yes I threw the boxes away.I’m not watching TV now because it turns off at any time. Yes, I set the sleep mode to max. It just, for no reason will change “channels. I’m watching something and then it’s the home screen. And I’ve had it go to another program. While I’m watching something. Then I have to try to find what I was watching. The box is long gone. I can’t return it to Amazon. February 2024. It should be under warranty. I’m sitting now because it just turned off. Sometimes it plays audio from another channel. It will get stuck and have to unplug it. Very disappointed. My old Insignia is in the bedroom and playing just fine. Maybe I got a bad one.
