    Simple and Intuitive

Its simple app-based menus is intuitive and even technical challenged people like my mom seems to be able to figure it out.The unit is very small so it doesn’t stick out and the remote is sturdy. It comes with pre-assigned buttons for services like Netflix. I wish there is a way to reassign to other services though. All in all, it’s a reasonably priced unit and the UI is stable.

    Roku is a good product

They have a great menu, easy to use and their hardware products are good. I have their 4K steaming stick, and one of their TV’s and now the Express 4K. The only problem I have had is with their remotes. The remote for the 4K streaming stick went bad, the direction pad would not work. I bought another control but that didn’t work with the Streaming stick, SO I bought the Express 4K. Works except volume up so going to try my new spare.

    Works very well

I got this for my grand daughter’s tv which is quite old. The Roku stick has made her viewing more on par with the newer TV’s. She was really grumbling about the appearance of her shows, and now they are just as good as any other 4k tv. Would recommend.

    Makes smart TV smarter

I had a Roku a few years back. This one is better, smaller and cheaper. I have a Samsung Frame TV but managing the apps seemed less convenient so I added this Roku. Easy Peasy.

    To start….

….the remote would not find the Roku system, but eventually it did. I’m good with it now. Plus, it will allow you to download the Spectrum TV app on it.

    Perfect

Even though the hardware that drives the Roku is similar to that of a Samsung Note 4 2014, the Roku software makes the hardware optimized down to the smallest detail, it’s perfect.

    Very Nice, Straightforward Streaming Dongle

Roku has been in the streaming business since the very beginning. In fact, when Netflix began its transition from DVD rentals to streaming services, the only way to watch Netflix was either on your computer or with a Roku device. I have a smart TV, but it has a billion apps that clutter up the screen and which I never use. Also, since its interface is android based, it need to have apps closed and the cache cleared on a regular basis or it will either slow down or some apps may stop working altogether. So I bought this little streamer from Roku to skip all that bloat and extra work. For the money, it can’t be beat. The only reason I took off one star is that the light on the front doesn’t go off, despite the fact that I chose the option in settings to allow the device to go into standby mode when there is no activity after 20 minutes. I called Roku customer service twice about this. The first person I talked to didn’t seem sure, but finally said it should stay on, although no rationale given. The second person was certain it should go off like with my earlier model Roku’s. However, when I asked why mine didn’t go off, I got no answer. They need to get their story straight; further, how can you tell the unit is in standby mode if the “on” light stays lit? I still recommend this unit and have bought several others for Christmas presents.

    Great streaming device, but!

These Roku streaming devices are great except for the fact that they don’t have a hardwired connection to the internet, and they just finally came out with a rechargeable remote. I have three in my house, two stream bars, and this. We like the remote control layout better than the Apple TV remotes. The biggest difference between the Roku and the Apple TV is the price, and the remote layout is preferable, however the Apple TV is the only device that will allow you to access your special features on your Apple TV purchases, like your movies extended edition, our behind the scenes videos.

    Great, affordable Roku streaming option

My first roku express was acting up and stopped connecting so I bought this to replace it. The regular express wifi function seems to have worn out and stopped after a little under 2 years. This express 4k hopefully will last longer and possibly better wifi components to support the 4k data resolution. The 4k is worth it just to get the on/off and volume control for the tv on the roku remote but it also includes a power adapter for the usb to plug into if the tv doesn’t have a usb to use. You can also get a usb ethernet adapter to use a cable instead of wifi connection which I would prefer if streaming 4k video, instead of only having a wifi connection option. I’ve always liked roku and this is fairly easy to set up. Roku makes it easy to add free and subscription channels and customize the channel home screen.

    LOVE

Best $30 I’ve ever spent. My TV is a little older, and I wasn’t able to get new apps on it like max etc. So I purchased this. The cord is long enough to plug it into the back of your tv, and then it comes with a sticky patch so you can put the remote sensor where it will pickup a good remote signal. I have a lot of crystals by my tv so my remote was always blocked. I plugged this in and started using it immediately. I can be in my bed, comfy in my blankets and it picks up a signal easy. Super easy to use, and once you plug in your email address, idk how it does this, but it automatically logged me in to many of the apps I use. I LOVE this remote. It turns the TV on and off and the volume works too. Great for older TVs that still have any HDMI cord. I wish I would have bought this sooner. No complaints!

    Problem solved

I bought the Roku device because my high-end Samsung smart TV would not play certain streaming channels and Samsung could not solve the problem. I knew I had sufficient wifi bandwidth. I installed the Roku device and after setting up each streaming channel with my userid and password it works great. Roku provides an onscreen QR code mechanism that allows you to use your phone to validate your userid and password without having to repeatedly scroll across an on-screen keyboard.

Roku is a Great Streaming Device

I had a Roku 4 in my office, but it kept overheating. Really annoying. I threw it out. I replaced it with a Fire Stick. Awful! I threw it out. I have the Roku Ultra in my Family Room. No problems. This little guy is working great so far. It’s fast and smooth. Try it, you’ll like it.

    One Remote Solution

I upgraded my old Roku recently to this model. It is great. This remote allows voice commands. It has an on/off button for the TV and also a volume control on the side. I love having a single remote. It was easy to set up and stepped me through the process. I bought a second one for my TV at my cabin.

    Easy setup

I mostly stream on my Plalystation console but there are some apps not available for it. I decided to try the Roku stick and found set up to be very easy. I am able to download all the apps I can think of using onto this stick. It was a worthwhile purchase for me.

Great except for one thing that they didn’t consider.

I recently purchased this Roku. I had a fire stick previously, but there were always connection issues and I’d have to switch over to my PlayStation to finish what I was watching. I also have a Roku In the living room and my kids’ rooms that we’ve had for years. The Rokus have never let us down. So, I decided to purchase this one for my bedroom to replace the fire stick that was always giving me trouble. It works great. I had no connection issues. It’s smaller than I thought, which I like a lot. The pictures great. It was easy to set up. I like that they give you a command strip style sticky thing to “mount“ it to your TV stand/dresser or whatever you’re putting it so that it doesn’t move around. However, there is one flaw that bothers me. The blue light on the front of this thing is way too bright. I just set it up yesterday and then I went to go to sleep last night and this blue light just glared in my face and lights up my room. This means I’m either going to have to get some electrical tape to cover the light, which isn’t aesthetically pleasing or keep some type of cloth to put over the light, which also isn’t aesthetically pleasing to have a rag of some kind laying on my dresser all the time to cover this light. The other Roku models I have don’t have this annoying light. The fire stick didn’t have it. It’s unnecessarily bright. It’s absurd I would give it five stars if it wasn’t for this flaw.

    Apple TV convert

I have always had an Apple TV, but after using one of these on vacation, I was sold by all the free streaming channels. Namely the Price is Right Barker Era channel. I have since replaced my two Apple TVs with these.

Great streaming device for the low cost but gets HOT

I bought this device to use on one of my other televisions since I already have a Roku tv in another room. The phone app works great on both devices. This device has only one problem which is it become hot to the touch over a short time. It is good to disconnect it from the power when not using it.

I like the remote ergonomically and for TV controls

I’m happy with the speed and the thumbnail preview (first few seconds of video on YouTube Roku app). This is compared to my much older Roku streaming unit. That “box” also was much larger by 2 or 3x. It included a jack for wired Internet connection, which I did find useful, and even an SD card slot, which I did not. That was my older Roku. The buttons on the new Voice Remote are comfortable and easy to press. I compare to the rather stuff and clicky “action” of buttons, on both an aftermarket remote and a Roku brand remote control that came years ago with an older Roku unit. This new remote connected to my brand of TV (Samsung) virtually by itself, as soon as I installed batteries and tried it out. This remote is small and lightweight. Still comfortable in my large hands.I’ve tried the voice capabilities, and am happy to use them as easy shortcuts to apps and streaming channels other than those with dedicated buttons on the remote. to turn off the mic and voice function for sense of privacy (which I’d have to trust to work). The aftermarket remote had a button to select input to the TV, which I don’t mind sacrificing for the comfort and convenience of this unit’s button comfort and voice feature. The box itself is fine. It was time to replace streaming boxes, and I’m glad I did. The good qualities of the remote made it a bonus worth ten extra dollars.

    LOVE ROKU ♡

I have been a ROKU user since 2008.I have gifted several people with ROKU through the years and they all Love it. This purchase is an update for me personally.ROKU streaming box is lighter than a TV remote. Set up is easy and everything you need is in the box.connect to TV, connect Roku to your internet. No hidden charges.Huge selection of APPS (some games) to use. Some require a fee ~ many do not. Add them to your Homescreen, if you don’t care for the APP or game, delete with a click of the remote. No pressure. For APPS you already have or pay for, Log-in using your account info. ROKU remembers so its a one-time log in. ROKU has its own APP. offering a wide selection of Free Movies.ROKU offers a selection of themes, Pics and sounds to customize your HOMESCREEN. ROKU picture stream enables you to upload photos for a presentation or a slide show for your screen saver. (a cool feature!)LOVING the new “speak” feature on the remote! (do I miss scrolling through the alphabet? NO!)You will need to create a ROKU account in order to use it and get the newest APP options. but NO CHARGES. This can be completed on computer or phone. You will Not regret this purchase!

    Incredibly Intuitive

I absolutely love this device! It was a breeze to setup and I didn’t even need to open the setup guide. Even people who struggle with technology will find this easy to setup and use. One of my favorite features that differentiates this device from other streaming interfaces, is the included remote control with voice search capability. It can even control the volume and power on your television. There is a great variety of apps available, including some free ones that I was surprised to find. Logging into your accounts on the apps is also very easy. I also appreciate the superior picture quality and network performance. And to top it all off, it was one of the most cost effective devices of this type.

    Love Roku

Roku is one of the easiest, user friendly devices available. Set up, from box to TV viewing takes less than 10 minutes. Roku is reliable. One suggestion for the manufacturer: move the mute button away from the right side. It’s too each to hit it when holding the remote.

    My favorite streaming device

Rokus are arguably the most affordable and easy to use streaming devices on the market. If you don’t have a Roku TV or any kind of smart TV, or want to use this with a projector or something else, this is a no brainer investment.I’ve purchased many of the older Express 1080p units and this 4K+ unit is basically the same with some added perks. The remote included with this unit is a voice remote and allows power control of the TV/display device all within the same remote. The old basic 1080p units did not come with this so it’s a great upgrade. If you use an external audio amplifier that integrates to your home theater via HDMI, CEC control can be used to allow the volume control to control that as well. All necessary cables and batteries for the remote were included. Also includes VHB tape (command strip) to adhere the Roku to your TV if you choose to do so.My application for this was a very early gen smart TV from 2013. Although it’s only 1080p it has a higher refresh rate than most TVs at that time, the picture quality is amazing, and it still works great so I saw no sense in replacing it.My only complaints are with the Roku design and platform, not this unit in particular:- Specific to the remote, there are a number of channel based services that would benefit from a number pad for direct dialing channel numbers. Roku does not support this, so OEM and aftermarket remotes will never be able to utilize this.- I’m a huge fan of the purple arrow buttons. Unfortunately they are rubber, not plastic. Easier on the fingers however they get gooey and degrade over time. I’ve had to replace a handful of Roku remotes over the years because of this- Dedicated streaming service buttons should be programmable. If I don’t subscribe to a service, I don’t want it as a remote hotkey. Interestingly enough, different remotes from different vendors all provide different variations of streaming buttons. There’s no consistency. At that rate, just get rid of them.Despite the small issues that bother me I still would not steer away from Roku as a platform. It has a lot to offer and an excellent price.

Fantastic 4K Streaming – Easy to Use and Great Value!

I bought this as my LG TV firmware was incompatible with YouTubeTV and had issues connecting to my wifi. The Roku Express 4K+ has been a game-changer for my home entertainment setup. The 4K and HDR quality make a noticeable difference in streaming, delivering crystal-clear picture quality with vibrant colors. It’s perfect for watching movies and shows in stunning detail.Setting it up was quick and simple, and the Roku interface is super user-friendly. I love the voice remote – it makes finding content so much easier, especially with access to free and live TV options. Roku’s platform offers a wide range of streaming services, so I can access everything I need in one place, including live TV channels, without needing a cable subscription. The device itself is compact and discreet, and it has been reliable with fast load times and no lag during streaming. Overall, the Roku Express 4K+ is an excellent value for anyone looking to upgrade their TV viewing experience with minimal hassle. Highly recommend!

Good Value, Fast, But A Few Issues With The Voice Remote Control

Purchased in June 2024.The Express 4K+ player is good- fast and responsive and the YouTube Roku app works well. The main reason I purchased this Express 4K+ player was to replace a 10 year old Roku 3 which had trouble with its YouTube app, and a few other apps that apparently were becoming Roku 3 incompatible. The Express 4K+ voice control remote has locked up a few times, however. (Just take out the batteries, and reinsert.) One thing that I had hoped was that the Roku 3’s radio gaming remote would allow me to plug in headphones for use with the Express 4K+. But that DOES NOT work. The basic functions of the Roku 3 remote DO WORK on the Express 4K+ player, but the headphone feature DOES NOT. I believe the Express 4K+ player and Voice Control remote are IR optical only. Oddly, there is no obvious window on the front of the remote for the IR light to exit. One last thing- try to use the USB power adapter that comes with the 4K+ Express. I assumed that any old sugar cube type USB power supply would do, and some did not not. Apparently, the Express 4K+ needs quite a bit of power (it does run pretty warm), and the cheapo low current USB cubes may not be able to supply the player with enough power.

Roku Express 4K+: A Fantastic Streaming Experience for Me!

After using the Roku Express 4K+ for a few weeks, I can confidently say I’m really happy with my decision. I was looking for a way to upgrade my streaming setup and get 4K quality without spending too much, and this device has delivered in all the areas that matter most to me.Pros:Amazing Picture Quality:The 4K HDR support on this Roku is impressive. Watching movies and shows in 4K has been a noticeable upgrade in picture quality. Colors are vibrant, and details are crisp. Even older content looks better, and I’ve really enjoyed seeing my favorite shows in a new light with such clear, sharp visuals.Simple Setup and Easy to Use:Setting up the Roku Express 4K+ was so easy. I had it up and running in just a few minutes, thanks to the clear instructions on the screen. The interface is straightforward, and navigating through different apps and channels is super simple. Everything I need is right there, and I don’t have to spend time hunting for what I want.Roku Voice Remote is a Game-Changer:The Roku Voice Remote is one of my favorite features. I love how easy it is to search for shows or movies just by speaking into the remote. It works really well, and I don’t have to scroll through endless menus anymore. Plus, it controls both the Roku and my TV’s volume and power, so I only need one remote.Great Free and Live TV Options:I’ve been really enjoying the free channels and live TV access. The Roku Channel offers a solid variety of free movies and shows, and there are a lot of live news, sports, and entertainment channels available, which means I don’t need an extra subscription to watch live content.Tons of Streaming Options:Having access to all the major streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Prime Video is perfect for me. I’m able to find whatever I’m in the mood for, and the device handles everything smoothly. The app interface is clean and easy to navigate, which makes switching between different streaming services hassle-free.Cons:Not for Gaming:While this device is great for streaming, it’s not built for gaming. If I wanted to play any serious games, this wouldn’t be the right choice, but that’s not something I’m using it for, so it doesn’t bother me.Audio isn’t Top-Tier:The sound quality is decent but not exceptional. The built-in audio is fine for everyday use, but it doesn’t blow me away, especially with the 4K visuals. I’m considering adding a soundbar to get better sound to match the picture quality, but for now, I’m still happy with how it performs overall. No Ethernet Port:The lack of an Ethernet port is a bit of a downside for me since I prefer wired connections for more stable streaming. I’m using Wi-Fi, which works just fine, but I do notice occasional fluctuations in speed. Not a deal-breaker for me, but it’s something I’ve noticed.Final Thoughts:The Roku Express 4K+ has been an excellent addition to my setup. The picture quality is fantastic, the voice remote is incredibly convenient, and the setup was quick and easy. The free and live TV options are a nice bonus, and I’ve found myself exploring a lot of new content because of it. While the sound quality and lack of an Ethernet port are small inconveniences, they haven’t detracted from my overall enjoyment of the device.

    Great Picture

Went from an older Apple TV – which I’ve been using for years, as they are released – and was worried about switching to non-Apple product. The price difference was hard to ignore, though! Very happy with Roku. Works great and notice a definite improvement in picture quality, even on my older Sony TV. The Home menu offerings are great. I have yet to explore the Roku channels.. Remote works well and happy to have TV and device all in one. I like the separate buttons on remote for Amazon and Netflix so you can get there directly. For Live TV, there is actually an impressive choice of streaming networks. There’s a lot there for an incredibly reaonable price!

My son says it’s a lifesaver

Some backstory for why I bought it:My son’s tv is an older flat screen and isn’t a smart tv so he has used my old vcr and vhs tapes to watch while he falls asleep because it helps him not be so scared at night, but when we had to move into our new house, the vcr was somehow damaged and won’t work. He was miserable ever since, especially in a new house.I had heard about Roku awhile back, so I looked into it and saw that it can be used on tvs that aren’t smart ones, so I decided to order this for him for Christmas last year and he LOVES it!It’s got access to all the apps he uses, but it also has its own channels, like a Roku kids channel complete with a variety of different kids shows, even streams from their fav streamers. It was extremely easy to setup, and you can even set it to be able to control the tv power so you don’t have to use multiple remotes. It has an auto shutoff so it’s not on all night, can be controlled with the app as well as the physical remote which has come in handy when he’s lost it and couldn’t find it before bedtime, and the box that gets hooked up to the tv is little and compact, and it comes with sticky pads to stick it wherever you need it without worrying about it shifting around or if you can’t find a flat surface and want to stick it to the tv.It has really helped us out over here in a big way and I def recommend it especially to anyone in a similar situation!

I hope Roku doesn’t get too excited that I bought this and go out and celebrate with champagne. I actually have a ten year old Roku 3 stuffed somewhere deep in a closet or something and it would have worked just fine. I already have 99.9% of what this does built into my high-end projection TV. The only reason I bought it is that the makers of my TV won’t pay the Netflix licensing fee so I can’t watch the very few things I want from that service on their projector. So the one and only thing this will ever be used for is that purpose. I know most people are here wanting to read reviews with specs and opinions about the picture quality and things like that but if I made just one person’s life better by letting them know for thirty bucks (twenty if HD is good enough for you) you can make your TV or projector think it is compatible with that streaming service. And it does work. And maybe I’ll pick up some additional content too, it looks like Roku is going big into the content creation business.PICTURE QUALITYIf you got this far, don’t have high expectations from any review of the picture quality, there is no answer. It is what it is, 4k is 4k, how it looks on your TV will depend mostly on your TV, and to some degree your internet provider, but in any case the Roku box isn’t going to have a very direct influence on what you see.QUIRKSOddly, Roku still uses line-of-sight infrared for their remote control while most remotes I am used to these days are RF. That means the receiver has to be located where the remote can “see” it. With today’s ultra-thin TV’s that can be a challenge because the sensor is located on the side not the face of the receiver, so for it to be “seen” would mean to try to stick the adhesive strip on an edge of a TV that can be less than a quarter of an inch, or even rounded. As if that’s not bad enough in my case I am using it with a projection TV and my projector is located behind our seating area. The only thing I could do is to choose the best location I could which still means I have to turn around and point the remote backwards at the projection TV. This is 2024, why hasn’t Roku kept up with the real world? Also in the same category is that the four direct access buttons can’t be re-programmed. I know over the years they have changes those buttons as different TV sources come and go in popularity but what if one of the services (I’m thinking Disney) is something we would never use? That wastes 25% of the available buttons. Yet something we watch every day (I’m thinking YouTube) is not possible to assign to that unused button. Again Roku, this is 2024, even ten years ago I could assign my own favorites to a A and a B button, why aren’t you thinking of such things?DEALBREAKERSWhile I used the word dealbreaker I’ll temper that by saying I am keeping this product, not because I want to but because if I want to watch Netflix on my projector I have to. But if that were not the case it would go right back to them right now. It took me three hours to set it up and I am highly technical, I set most things in in minutes usually without reading instructions. If you have a desire to bring back technology for the 1980’s this is the device for you. The setup is maddening. Whether or not you want to use their power button and volume control with your TV, that’s not your choice, they force that decision on you and there is absolutely no way to get past that first setup screen after it hooks up with your wifi. They give you a list of TV brands. If yours isn’t on the list, sorry, there is no way of saying so or skipping that option. Your only option is something they call Advanced (it’s not) which makes the assumption that your TV’s remote is infrared (mine is RF). Roku never heard of RF so you are dead in the water at that point. There is a CEC option but that is way technical and I don’t have to discuss it here. So I went online and not surprisingly they don’t say a word about it. I went to the user forums and other people have the same frustration but there was a lot of “I don’t know or useless suggestions with no way to give feedback that they were useless. I finally did come up with a way to confuse the device and move on but not after a good part of my afternoon was gone.YES NO MAYBEMy answer is that the HD unit at ten bucks less is so much the same that most people will never be able to tell the difference on 95% of what they watch. But if you are a perfectionist and ten bucks more isn’t a dealbreaker than you might as well splurge. What about all the other models? My opinion is your return on investment is very little with them, you get some nice but not necessary features but the price premium is far too much. Overall I would say this model gives you the best bang for your buck but that doesn’t mean I can endorse poor engineering and product design. They are resting on their laurels and shouldn’t be congratulated for that and anything more than an average rating is too high.

    Pretty good

Our old TV just got a reprieve. After doing some research, we bought this Roku Express 4K+ streaming player and found it works quite well. We have hooked it up to an old Samsung 22″ TV (model code LT22B350ND/ZA) which was made in 2013. Received it within a few days of ordering it and it took about 20 minutes to get it working.Ease of use: Follow the included instructions. I plugged it into our power strip rather than the TV USB port since I heard that there were issues related to that (one report of fire, some issues with inadequate power, etc.). Remote takes a little time getting used to – I haven’t figured out what all the buttons do and I still haven’t figured out how to slave the remote to adjust TV sound. I can imagine that will make my life easier because I won’t need to use the TV remote for anything else except for changing the input source and doing some TV fine tuning. Volume adjust/mute buttons are on the side of the remote which was an issue for a few people, but I’m OK with it. From past reviews, sounds like the remote is not very durable but that remains to be seen.Speed: quite responsive – no complaintsAppearance: The wireless receiver is quite unobtrusive. This Roku comes with a mounting strip so you can stick it where you want it. I just parked it on the TV base without the strip.Battery life and the rest: remains to be seen but for a gadget that cost less than $40, we’re satisfied. So much so that we will get another for our living room TV – it’s a few years younger but we expect the Netflix and Prime Video software for it to eventually outdate. One thing that bothers me is that you have to sign up for a Roku account which means giving out your credit card info. I still have misgivings about doing that being the closet Luddite that I am.

    Genial

Después de usarlo un par de meses, aún instalado en un televisor Smart, me parece una excelente opción para navegar y disfrutar de un streaming según tus necesidades.Para proyectores es indispensable, lo recomiendo totalmente.

Great price for exactly what I wanted!

I love Roku and Amazon Prime! My old Roku stick kept giving me grief and after searching I found this one that would do all that I needed. I set everything up and thanks to having some cash credit I paid less for way more. The cool Prime part was I ordered it around 5 A.M. and it was on my porch when I got home from my errands before 9:00 A.M.! Watching the ballgame now! Go Astros!

    Ease of use

This version of Roku is awesome – it replaced a fire stick which was a nightmare and screwed up live tv. The device itself was easy to install however if your tv is wall mounted it’s a 2 man job to get the tv off the wall to plug Roku into the back. Overall love the product.

Challenging to get connected and directions.

Directions are not very clear, it took me a lot longer than it should have to load and get programmed. HDMI wasn’t connecting to the unit well and had an issue figuring that out.I’ve had firesticks for a long time and decided to change it up to the 4k.Watched a movie tonight. No glitches. So just got a little getting used to and re-sign ins on apps. That’s a pain..

I needed a new Roku for my bedroom tv.

My other Roku was outdated. I was surprised to find out I can connect it to my tv that has an antenna and get Netflix and Prime! Very happy!

    Not enough free services

Great product. Well made, complete, easy to set up. Has many different streaming alternatives but most of them require subscriptions. This is probably the best most compact streaming device available. And comes with all accessories. Check your TV’s USB output – you may not need the power adapter. Voice remote works well. Has a good quality HDMI cable included.

    It works as advertised!

The Roku set up was so easy and I had immediate use of Netflix etc. on my older Sony TV which had stopped supporting those channels. Very pleased!!

    Roku TV

Bought this to replace my firestick. So far so good, gets the job done. I was able to easily install all of my apps. It meets all of my streaming needs. The reason for docking one star is occasionally the volume controls don’t work. Not sure why this happens but it corrects itself after a bit.

    Love using this!

We have had this for about a year and we are loving it! It’s pretty easy to use and the remote is small so better than a big clunky remote. It’s good quality and we’re glad we bought it.

    Good Unit, Poor Remote

I purchased a Roku Express 4K unit to replace a Tablo/Firestick combo that was not working well together (see Tablo review). The Tablo/Roku combo works well together. The only problem with the unit is that it lacks individual control of the apps (which a Firestick is programmed to do). The Tablo/Roku combo works much better than the Tablo/Firestick combo. Other installed apps work very well with this streaming unit/. Apps can be installed and/or removed easily. The Roku remote does have some problems. The biggest is that the TV controls can only be set up for a TV, not a TV/Soundbar combo. For my setup, the TV set’s audio remains set to zero while the soundbar is connected to an Aux output. The soundbar audio is controlled independently of the TV audio. A Fire Stick allow the soundbar’s volume control to be programmed into its volume control buttons. The Roku remote does not. The Roku remote keeps changing the TV volume when a volume button is inadvertently pushed (side mounting leads to inadvertently pushing these buttons whenever the remote is being held). Tried some of the fixes for connecting a sound bar to the remote that are on the web, but none work to date. Getting a universal remote to replace the dedicated remote.

    Works so easily

I had posted a bad review but I am sorry I did. I hate to admit that the problem was the surge protector. It apparently had been zapped & was no longer working. It’s a great product

Super easy to install and use, no monthly fee unless you want extra premium channels

A friend told me she bought one to use and not have to pay a monthly fee. There ARE extra channels you can subscribe to but even those are very reasonable.A few years ago I stayed at an air BnB and they had Roku, I watched it but really didn’t know what it was about or the cost. It was perfect for the place I stayed and I was amazed at the channels available. It only needs internet access and the owner had control, had it in guest mode and worked fine.I bought two, one for the TV in the guest bedroom where my son and daughter in law stays when they come to visit.. she has a Netflix account and likes to watch their usual shows before going to sleep… and I got one for the other bedroom my grandchildren stay in when they are here. I have it set to just kids shows and they can still attach gaming devices and we can cast to the TV. I love having options that meet different needs without costing a fortune.I was very impressed with how easy it was to set up and that I can use one remote, and it has voice search! Awesome tech, even for us older folks. My husband loves the old westerns and now he can go sit in the guest bedroom if he wants and watch it with the TV turned up so he can hear it.

No more apps cluttering the screen!!!

So great. Never fails. No more trash apps complicating my screen. Only apps are those I’ve chosen to have there. Don’t know how, but seems to have improved tv screen picture. Already have ordered a second.

Easy to set up and provides a great picture

we are considering “cutting the cable”, so the purchase of the Roku device was a first step towards that end. I was surprised at how user friendly it is, and how quickly apps load. In particular, access to Amazon Prime Video is much faster than through my cable provider. The picture is sharp and clear, and the Wi-Fi connection is solid – no glitches, no buffering delays, no hiccups. Sometimes I forget that I am watching a movie through the Roku device because it provides such a solid connection. My only disappointment is with content of the apps themselves, but that’s not a knock against this Roku device. It delivers as promised and has been a great addition to our viewing options.

Love roku so I dont have to subscribe extra channels

this particular Roku device is a small thing that sits on the TV stand. Not as convenient as the stick that plug in the back of the TV. It was a bit more complicated to set up.
