Makes everything better
We found a SONY Bravia HD TV by the elevator in our building as a tenant had been evicted and left it. We turned it on only to discover it was only cable tv ready or digital antenna and wasn’t a smart tv. Sox I purchased Roku player and connected it with all of our subscriptions. Now we have an action packed 55” Sony tv that the Roku player have life to.

Was not a roku guy before
I got this to add smart capabilities to an older TV. It works very well. Very fast, streams quality video. I’m annoyed that it is actually faster than my vizio smart tv, but that’s on them. It uses hdmi, and I’ve had no compatibility issues. The remote is very responsive, no delay. I’m impressed!

Perfect
Even though the hardware that drives the Roku is similar to that of a Samsung Note 4 2014, the Roku software makes the hardware optimized down to the smallest detail, it’s perfect.

I 🖤 Roku
Setup was a breeze. Easy enough for a dumb dumb like myself to use. The picture is as good as my TV is designed to be. The remote has buttons that do stuff. If you press them in the correct order, the outcome is whatever you were attempting to do. It streams movies and shows and other similar things. I’m almost certain that mine was delivered fresh, never frozen. It seems pretty stupid to me if I try freezing it just to see if it still works. Overall, it has all the qualities I would want from a streaming service. That’s why I 🖤 Roku more than my days off work.

Awesome Product.
Made my older Vizio flat screen into a state of the Art TV capable of streaming all that is available to stream .Amazing product you will not be disappointed.**Note **Your old TV needs to be WIFI enabled and equipped with HDMI ports that’s all you need for the Roku to work on your TV.

savings every month
I love this. Have been paying every month to Spectrum for a cable box. In 3 months the device has paid for itself. My only gripes are that you can only go back to the previous channel and the channel you are on without going through the channel guide, and sometimes the voices don’t match what screen shows. Easy fix is to turn the tv off, then turn it on again

World’s good
I was a little disappointed that the remote doesn’t have an on/ off switch. The box has two cables that need to be hooked up in order for the remote to work. However it does work fine

Easy to set up and works seamlessly
I also appreciate the small size, as it’s in a pretty small space. One note: the box doesn’t include a power adapter. You will need to be able to plug it into something that takes USB for it to charge. I felt quite lucky that I had recently bought a surge protector that included USB ports, or I would not have been able to complete set up.

Roku devices have always been phenomenal. This one is no exception. As always, Amazon has been amazing in their order/deliver process.I myself am in the ERP/CRM line of work. It amazes me to see how Amazon does it.I hope Amazon is treating its employees well. Those who are on the ground.

Nice
The cats knocked my remote off my nightstand and it stopped working. I used the app for several months, but spotty service meant I was sometimes waiting for the remote app to connect. The cost for a new remote was similar with this new one. The picture quality seems a lot better on this device.

Great Value and Much Needed Upgrade
Roku… please stop making your devices have a lifespan by making them get slower and slower. That is the main reason why I had to purchase this one. I love Roku as they offer all the streaming that I need, but I dread their product death timeframe. The joy is, my old remote works with this Roku as well, so I don’t have to share the remote with my wife. It looks a bit more streamlined in design, but it is just as easy to setup as other Roku devices that I have setup in the past. So, I am sure I will be buying the updated versions as another one gets too slow to handle. Still 5 stars sounds appropriate due to the functionality and price of this device.

Simple and effective.
Easy to set up. Works fine.Only feature you’re giving up for the attractive price-point is an R/F remote, so you do need LOS between the unit and the remote, but it’s easy to mount to the side or bottom of the TV.

I couldn’t find a programmable replacement remote for my current Roku remote… the down arrow had become a pain to get to work.I ordered a new remote, but it turned out NOT to be programmable even though it was advertised as such…. so I just bought a new Roku.Works like a dream!

Enjoyable streaming device.
I recently bought a Roku streaming device as a gift, and I’ve been using one I purchased for myself regularly. It’s truly a great device, especially in areas where cable isn’t available. The downfall is they only last for a few years.

Well They Don’t Last Forever That’s for Sure!
Our initial Roku Express lasted 4 yrs & 4mos before giving out (blinking blue light: dash/dot-dot). Tried everything under the sun, including new cables/reset/blah, blah, blah, but still wouldn’t reestablish wireless connection. New replacement fired right-up: good thing this cheapo bottom-of-the- line “Express” only cost $25.00, so why pull your hair out for hours trying to get your old unit working again at that price.***NOTE Our original Roku Express (which came with the power adapter and now doesn’t!), I have to say, worked flawlessly for the 4 yrs, never one glitch ever, but this new one is slower and buffers way more, even considering I had got a new router a few weeks ago, with 5 times the download speed that I had; so you would think this new Roku should perform flawlessly as well, but no such luck; kinda annoying knowing that our router connection is just fine! I don’t know what it is with companies who can’t leave stuff well enough alone, and when they update a product or service, it actually performs worse!

Great streaming devce
Still kind of new to me but I really like what I can do with it. I haven’t figured out how to access the web but my channels are mostly dependent upon my Cable TV subscription (which I don’t have). ROKU doesn’t consider that I might use Over The Air antennae for local channels. Otherwise, glad I purchased this.

Works like a charm, almost..
I had an older version of the express Roku before this that somehow lost its ability to connect to WiFi after about 7 years. The new one was a breeze to setup. However the double sided tape adhesive isn’t strong enough to keep it mounted to the top of my tv. I keeps falling off. I replaced it with 3M Velcro tape and that worked.

Only problem is it would reboot itself when I went to set up connection. Problem was that I was getting power from TV. Got a USB power block (like for a phone), plugged it into wall outlet, and problem solved.

Long Term Review.
The Roku Express unit has worked quite well until the past month or so, and then the sound through it has become distorted and garbled. The Roku support community site leads me to believe this may be a rather common problem, but they don’t appear to make it easy to find the fix, but unplugging the power cord for 10-15 seconds and then plugging it back in appears to fix it. As to how long the sound will continue to be OK? Had ROKU published this solution and made it easy to find, I would have given it 5 stars! But Customer Service is so very important!

I LOVE my Roku!
I got this set up for my kitchen television set. I love to have something on when I cook, clean, or wash dishes in the kitchen. I’m just one of those people that has to have something going on in the background, unless I’m writing…if I’m writing I have to have complete silence. I don’t know, it’s one of my quirks. So, I was going to get another Fire Stick, but I saw this was on sale. I almost got the Fire Stick anyway, why break up the set, you know? In the end I couldn’t resist the chance to save some money, and I’ve had Roku in the past, so why not?I’m very happy with my purchase. My Roku works fine with my Prime account, and I also have the Roku channel that gives me access to all of that content. Honestly, it really worked out great and I’m glad I got it.

Very useful for my TV
The ROKU was really useful for my situation, I have an old 1080p that does not have any software built into it. Because of that I really have no use for it, however, with this listed under $20, this was an obvious pickup. It is completely transformed by the viewing experience. I would recommend this if your tv does not have these features already, if it does I feel this wouldn’t upgrade much.

So good!
This roku is great even given it is the express. We have personally not taken it anywhere but you can tell it is very easy to apply and work. The one down side is you still need the other remote to the tv for volume, but that doesn’t do much. Still great!

Great way to rejuvenate an obsolete TV!
I was dubious about this product but was convinced after surfing and reading bulletin boards that this was probably the best way to stream to my old HDTV (1080p) set.I got an excellent on this piece of hardware and it was at my home within 2 days. Set-up was nearly as easy as they say but it took the better part of 50 minutes to set up because I wanted to make sure I could get most if not all my current subscriptions uploaded to the Roku. With the exception of JustWatch, I was able to upload and log into all my streaming services with the Roku device. The only bad thing is you can’t turn your TV off with the Roku remote. You still need to use the TV remote for this! You CAN turn on the TV with the Roku remote but that’s it. Input switching, volume control, and TURN OFF have to be done with the TV remote. With those minor inconveniences, I would recommend getting the Roku over purchasing an HD antenna. If you already have an Internet account AND a WiFi router, why not take advantage of that with a device that can receive for your old TV and provide a bigger screen to enjoy streaming movies and old TV shows?!?

Reliable
I stream all my TV shows and movies. I was recommended to use Roku to keep my Hulu from cutting out all the time. It has worked. My only issue appears to be timing off. I play my TV all night to prevent my little dog from hearing outside noises that makes her bark and wake me up. I just can’t find where to update the setting so it doesn’t cut off during an extended playing time.

Keep them on hand!
Works well. I purchase these as gifts for my grandkids who were leaving for college. I buy more than needed because for the next four years, one of them will be going to college and will need one. Also I lose my remote often. It helps to have extras around! Hey don’t judge me🤣

Works Great, but get a USB splitter also if you want to turn it off.
The device is kind of fiddly, but once you get your Wi-Fi and your streaming service credentials input, it updates itself and is very user friendly. The device setup has a lot of nice features like content casting from your phone and automating your TV power and source functions, and custom themes. If you want a wired connection, you can buy a USB Ethernet Adapter for Roku Express. Make sure it has the right style mini USB male input to match your Roku’s mini USB female input (A or C).The only thing that puzzled me is that it does not turn off. Where the power button normally is on the Remote, you have a “back arrow” that takes you back to the last menu in most of the apps and the Roku menus.According to the instructions, you can unplug it to turn it off.Or, you can plug the Roku USB cable into your TV’s USB, then it will turn on/off with the TV.You can buy a USB splitter if you are already using the USB (for media in my case).I don’t want the Roku drawing power, however little it uses, when I’m not watching it.Once you power on the TV, select the source button HDMI you set the Roku to, and your streaming services are a button push away. There are even 4 buttons on the remote for Netflix, Max, Paramount and AppleTV.The Roku OS and the Apps work smoothly.I have managed to upset one of the Apps. It froze while I was endlessly perusing titles. All of the buttons were inactive, but I kept pushing the Return Arrow on the upper left and it finally closed the app and went home. On another streaming device, I had to unplug it. There are YouTube guides for a stuck Roku. There is a reset button on the rear, BUT I Only Use It When You Want to Clear Settings. Unplug It First. The instructions state:”Certain Roku models come with a physical reset button on the back or bottom of the device. This button is either a tactile button or a pinhole button. You can reset these devices to factory settings by pressing and holding this button until you see a flashing light”.There are of course FREE shows and movies. And there are links to Premium Streaming Services have many Free Trials and Free Episodes you can access. So, you get instant gratification with just your Roku Express and an internet connection. The device setup Seems to Require a Credit Card during your online (PC Browser) account population. But, it is not needed (scroll to the bottom) if you already have your Credit Card Payment info setup with your Bank to pay your streaming fees.Of course you can put your card in to buy screen savers and other stuff if you want. But, if it is there, it is easy for anyone watching your TV to spend your loot. The Roku comes with a 3 Foot HDMI cable. One of my two Roku Express had 2 USB cables,. It had a Mini USB and a Mini USB C. The other device just had the correct USB cable that fit it’s device. There is a sticky strip to attach the small Roku to your TV. I put mine close the TV remote sensor (left side of my TV) so I am in the habit of pointing my remote at the right spot.Prior this purchase, I was using my BluRay player to stream 2 of my services and I used my HTPC Chrome browser to access the other 2 services. So this Roku device is a time saving, energy saving WIN!

Easy setup and nice and small unit.
I bought this unit to replace an out dated Roku HD on a 720p tv. I have two other Rokus so the setup and logins were quick and mostly easy. This unit is very tiny and come with a long power cord and a fairly short HDMI cable. The power cord does not come with a powered charger because Roku expects you’re going to plug into one of your tvs usb port. The remote is basic with no volume control. Nice basic Roku unit.

I got this for my bedroom TV. I don’t watch TV often but it’s nice to be able to watch content on my streaming apps without a smart tv. This Roku version is very easy to use. FYI most tvs for the most part have usb inputs so you don’t have to connect the Roku to the wall. I’m very happy with my purchase.

This works great for streaming on a Fire TV
About a year ago Spectrum made a change & stopped streaming on my Fire TV. I could use the TV with an antenna, but couldn’t stream. This Roku Express allows streaming on the Fire TV again. Set up was simple and this is cheaper than replacing the TV. I’m happy.

Affordable Streaming with Great Performance
I recently added the Roku Express to my home entertainment setup, and it’s been a solid addition. It offers a lot of value for its price point, though there are a few minor areas for improvement.Pros:Easy Setup: The setup process was quick and straightforward. The instructions were clear, and I had it up and running in no time.User-Friendly Interface: The Roku interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. Finding and installing apps like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ is a breeze.Content Selection: Roku offers a vast selection of streaming channels, ensuring that there’s always something to watch. The free Roku Channel also provides a good selection of movies and TV shows.Performance: The streaming quality is excellent. Videos load quickly, and I haven’t experienced any buffering issues, even with HD content.Affordability: The Roku Express is one of the most affordable streaming devices on the market, offering great value for the price.Cons:Remote Control: The included remote is basic and lacks some advanced features found in higher-end models. It also doesn’t have volume control or a power button for the TV, which would have been convenient. No Voice Search: Unlike more expensive Roku models, the Express lacks voice search capability, making it a bit more cumbersome to search for content.Limited Advanced Features: The Roku Express is a great entry-level device, but it lacks some advanced features like 4K streaming and enhanced wireless performance, which are available in higher-end Roku models.Overall, the Roku Express is an excellent choice for anyone looking to add streaming capabilities to their TV without breaking the bank. It offers reliable performance, a wide range of content, and an easy-to-use interface. While it lacks some of the bells and whistles of more expensive models, it delivers great value for its price.

Easy to setup
The product works great. Prior to this, I have owned the Fire Stick and Apple TV, but I am not looking to replace either of these at the moment. The only downside, which may have been my mistake, is that I was unable to turn my TV on or off with the remote, and I also couldn’t control the volume. Besides these issues, everything else about the product is excellent. It was easy to set up and it’s easy to control.

We are now so close to cutting the cord that we can’t stand it. With DirecTV buying Dish network and Sling, we’re now actively looking for an alternative just for the channels we love to watch. This device works perfect and so easy to set up, no regrets at all.

Set up was a breeze
This is the easiest setup I’ve ever done. Pretty much plug and play. (I do have a ROKU tv and ROKU account so that made it easier.). I bought this to plug into a little mini projector I bought for Halloween.. thought it would be fun to watch my streaming services and stuff wherever I wanted, like if I wanted to go camping and or sit out in the driveway and watch a movie on the garage door with neighbors.. fun stuff like that. This plugged into my little projector perfectly.. and everything worked as it should. It was easy, quick and I was watching Hulu 10 minutes after unboxing. AND I didn’t even need a TV to do it!

Firestick be damned…there is a new sheriff in town
In my ignorance I have purchased multiple Firesticks. Gen 1 gen 2 and gen whatever and they have all ended up the same way….in the garbage can. I have a small TV by my bed that I like to fall asleep watching – it’s my nightly ritual, but my Firestick obviously did NOT get the memo because it has proceeded to block or delay me from watching something just about every night over the last 4 or 5 months. I have rebooted it time and time again. Unplugged it and even reset it to the factory settings once because it was, for some inexplicable reason, running out of memory. Even after deleting about every application I had installed, many of which, BTW, the device will NOT let you delete…which is another issue I have with the Firestick. Anyway, the reset worked for a while and I thought all was good but I was wrong. Slowly but surely is started to pause and I waited only to see the message that “something went wrong”….no kidding. Click okay to restart…which also takes forever. The lockups the pausing, the error codes, the nightly reboots and unplugging…..my gosh what a piece of junk. This is no exaggeration….I have sat down to go to bed and spent upwards of 30 minutes or more, messing with the Firestick to start a video so I could lay down and fall asleep. Seriously…..EVERY SINGLE NIGHT I had to deal with this piece of junk !!!I even swapped it out the other day with one in my home office that had not been used in a while, geez I wonder why, and it did not even start up. Just died while sitting doing nothing other than being plugged in. I was done, done, done. Why I did not try a Roku device long ago I will never know, but it is working flawlessly and only took me about 15 minutes to configure. That is less time than it took my Firestick to boot up every night. No it does not control the volume or turn off my TV, but neither did my Firestick, but what it does and does well, is it allows me to start Netflix or HBO in seconds. No delays, no losing the network connection, no spinning circles that usually result in errors…..just point and click and booya !!It is not perfect to be sure. I am not a huge fan of the select and arrow button setup. Would be nice if the buttons were spaced further apart and the select button was more pronounced so you can operate it more easily by feel…which I do a lot, but I suspect I will get used to it over time. It also allowed me to easily customize my screen and delete ANY preinstalled apps from view, no exceptions, and the process was very intuitive. I have not read the instructions and don’t think I need to at this point.Outside of the need to have a Roku account and the initial push to purchase various packages and streaming platforms and enter a payment option, which I did not do, the Roku has gone silent. It just does it’s job every night like a good remote should and for a third of the prices of a Firestick and I could not be happier. If you are wondering if a Roku will work better than a Firestick….the answer is YES !!!I have one of the half dozen Firesticks I have purchased over the years still in my garage/gym and so far it seems to be okay. I know it’s just a matter of time until it bites the bullet though…it’s not a matter of IF. I might be wise to just get a another Roku now and save myself the frustration of another “system update” which is another story all together….but I will spare the details !!

TV game Changer
With the ridiculous price of inflation and cost of food and everything else, I see no reason why anyone should even bother with satellite or cable if they can get away with just having a Roku stick. Why pay almost $200 for a service when you can get television for free?To get started, there is a learning curve. You’re not going to just turn on the TV and watch local channels in real time. It is streaming. So essentially it’s like watching television through your computer, and you are going to have a little bit of an adjustment time depending on your skill level with computers and internet streaming. This is not to discourage any seniors or anyone who’s not computer savvy, you just may have a longer learning curve. However, you can still get some local channels, and you can still get a lot of news channels, you just have to know how to find them and to get optimal access.A lot of your Roku exoerience depends on how much television you watch. If you watch a lot of television and you still want to keep cable or satellite, I would recommend getting basic service and then supplementing with Roku. If you just want something for when the power is out, you can just buy this one time stick and not get any supplemental services they sell or subscriptions. If you don’t watch a lot of television, this is a perfect choice. Especially if you’re off-grid for any reason, this is an option to not ever have to worry about getting connectivity due to location or thunderstorms.I was on satellite at my last location and when there was a technology issue, I happily switched over to Roku and after just a few days I did not miss regular television cable or satellite at all. I had it for several months, now and back on satellite. But will be back strictly to Roku soon and it’s just so fabulous, I know I will not miss satellite.I don’t bother with the subscription because I don’t like subscriptions, but you can also upgrade to get more options if you’d like. For such an inexpensive upfront cost, you get so much out of your Roku stick. I believe you do have to have Wi-Fi, So if you don’t have Wi-Fi at your location, you should be able to get Wi-Fi from your phone, but you’d have to check with Roku for that. Highly recommend!!!

Easy to use!
If you’re a Roku user, the Roku remote is an absolute game-changer. I recently upgraded to the latest model, and it’s been a fantastic addition to my streaming setup.Build Quality:The remote feels sturdy and well-built, with a nice, weighty feel that makes it comfortable to hold. The buttons are tactile and responsive, and the layout is intuitive, which makes navigation a breeze. The addition of backlit buttons is a game-changer for late-night binge-watching.Features:One of my favorite features is the voice search functionality. It works surprisingly well, allowing me to find shows and movies quickly without having to type anything. The remote also includes dedicated buttons for popular streaming services, which is incredibly convenient and saves time.Performance:The remote connects seamlessly with my Roku device, and the range is impressive. I can control my TV from across the room without any issues. The pairing process was straightforward and quick, and I haven’t experienced any lag or connectivity issues since.Battery Life:Battery life has been great so far. I haven’t had to replace the batteries yet, and I use the remote daily. The low battery indicator is also a handy feature, giving me a heads-up before I need to swap them out.Overall:This Roku remote is a must-have for any Roku user looking to enhance their streaming experience. It combines functionality, ease of use, and sleek design into one package. Highly recommended!

Best purchase!!!
I had to update to this from my Chromecast device since I was having trouble casting Disney app on my TV. I got this and it didn’t disappoint and it’s even BETTER! I have access to more apps and channels that I didn’t get before. I am so happy with this purchase I wish I would have bought this device sooner! Buy it!!!

Works as advertised
Netflix cut service off to my TV because it was too old. It was get a new TV or try Roku. I tried Roku! I purchased the least expensive model just in case I didn’t like it but to be honest I have enjoyed it. I would recommend it to anyone looking to try it out before taking the plunge.

Somewhat easy to set up, good functionality. Cost-effective. Great investment. No volume control
We like this product, as it allows us to stream different channels in addition to standard / basic channels. It is relatively easy to setup — plug in the cables, connect it to the internet, then start streaming. However, once it is connected, it may be a challenge for those who are not tech-savvy, e.g., young children, the elderly, etc. to navigate to different channels using the remote. This device can be cost effective, since customers may not need a cable box, depending on their needs. Unfortunately, the Roku remote does not have a volume control, so you will likely need 2 remote controls to change the volume on your TV (or get up, walk to the TV, and change the volume manually).

Obviously used
This Roku device arrived in a package that had clearly been opened. Whoever had it previously left the batteries inserted. Which leads me to a fairly good guess as to why it was returned… One of the batteries was inserted backwards. The fact that I was sent a return, without my prior knowledge, is why I dropped this by one star. The device itself is working fine, so far. It was quick and easy to hook up. I have several other Roku streaming devices, so I am familiar with the product.

This my second one
This is perfect for those of us that still have nice TV’s that are older and not “smart”. We recently became empty nesters and have an older tv that needed to be upgraded to have smart tv options. I purchased one within the last year for a different tv so it was a no brainer to get another for the TV in the guest bedroom. The price is good and saved us from having to purchase a new TV.

Great product
We added this to our RV so we can continue to watch our shows when on vacation. It’s easy to use and not complicated. The product arrived on time with no issues.

So glad I got this!
I don’t have a smart TV, and I wasn’t sure this Roku device would even work with the old TV I do have. But my TV does have an HDMI port, and the price for this Roku box was under $20, so it seemed like a risk worth taking. The set up instructions were easy to follow, and I was happy to find that it is compatible and works great with my elderly LG TV! This is so much more streamlined and functional than what I had been relying on – which was mirroring my computer desktop to my TV using a big long clunky cable. Now, with Roku, I can watch shows on the big screen without my computer being involved, plus I gained a bunch of free new channels in the process. Yay!

Better than smart tvs!
We love this product because it makes any tv into a smart tv with out the price tag! The remote is easy to use and makes streaming easy. Only two complaints is they got rid of the volume buttons and can’t turn off the tv like you used to with older models
